Jamie will be hoping for a big performance on home soil this weekend, as Silverstone prepares to host Round 5 of the 2025 European Le Mans Series.
The Bath native and her IDEC Sport team-mates are 26 points off top spot in the LMP2 standings, but can close the gap with a solid haul at the iconic British venue.
And with 25 points up for grabs on Sunday, chasing down leaders VDS Panis Racing remains eminently possible, with two races remaining in the competition.
Race recap
Round 4 proved to be a frustrating outing for IDEC Sport’s car No.18, despite a commendable on-track performance during 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
After qualifying in P6, Jamie started behind the wheel in Stavelot — immediately climbing a place, before her stint was punctuated by virtual safety car and full safety car interruptions.
The baton was then handed to Daniel Juncadella — who rose even further to P2 — and eventually to Mathys Jaubert in the race’s latter stages.
Things appeared to be progressing well, but the deployment of a Full Course Yellow with 24 minutes remaining proved to be a decisive moment.
Car No.18 entered the pit lane after that was announced, which resulted in a three-minute post-race penalty.
The result was a finishing position of P11, despite ending the race in second place.
Track guide
Silverstone will present drivers with plenty of challenges this weekend — but Jamie has some familiarity with the historic track.
The 27-year-old claimed top spot there in the 2015 British GT Championship, before triumphing at the venue once again during the 2022 W Series.
She’ll be fully aware of what’s in store at the ‘home of British motor racing’, then, with its famous fast corners and high-speed layout.
Stretching across 5.891 km (3.661 miles) and featuring 18 turns, a lap of Silverstone begins with twisting turns and a fast charge down the Wellington Straight.
Then it’s time for Sector 2, which is renowned for wheel-to-wheel action and features a series of quick directional changes at the Maggotts-Becketts-Chapel complex.
Finally, there are overtaking opportunities at Hangar Straight, Stowe Corner, and Vale-Chapel in Sector 3, to conclude a lap that requires speed and bravery in abundance.
Minassian's thoughts
IDEC Sport Team Principal Nicolas Minassian believes that local knowledge could play a part in proceedings during Round 5.
“We’re back at Silverstone, a fast, technical, and historic circuit where the weather often plays an important role!” he said.
“England is a country of motorsport enthusiasts, so I think the crowds will be out in force. Our six drivers know the circuit, Jamie will be at home, and we’ve already raced there successfully.
“It will be an attacking weekend for both cars. Of course, the championship points count, but our goals are clearly to get results in every race.
“We’re not counting the points for the championship, but to get results race after race. It’s up to us to create our own luck.”
The French outfit have previously enjoyed success at Silverstone — finishing on the podium in 2018 before triumphing there the following year.
Jamie and co. will undoubtedly be hoping for a repeat of that achievement at this season’s edition.
